In the spirit of promoting a greater connection the Western Sydney University (WSU) campus in the centre of Parramatta’s CBD undertook a major transformation. Tasked to design the new university building Woods Bagot designed the campus around an open central atrium, this completely opened up the space and enhanced the sense of fluidity and community, allowing for greater mobility whilst adding sightlines between floors.Interconnecting stairs and voids encourage collaboration and organic conversations between students, staff and the community. Today, the outcome is a adaptive environment that encourages learning through conversation.

CSM worked with the Woods Bagot and John Holland teams to future-proof the universities storage requirements and to deliver a range of integrated storage solutions. Across 10 separate levels (plus Basement), CSM supplied Systems Shelving, Infinity Tambours Cabinets, Hinge Door Cabinets, Lateral Door Cabinets and personal storage units. Proven popular are the bold visual statements made with the use of CSM’s Workstation Towers throughout levels eight and ten. In pearl white exterior, these desk storage elements playfully engage with the surrounding design elements. Finished internally in either bright Horizon Blue or Blaze Blue, they’re an inspired design feature both visually uplifting, yet a functional statement.

The design team’s extensive use of the Infinity Cabinet provides both staff and students generous options for storage, a much needed element in the extensive and mobile spaces. The locally manufactured products were used for their modular qualities and robust construction. Whether storing documents or personal belongings for a large volume of hot-desking staff and students, or housing the university’s important archives, the lockable unit are built to last.

To economise on space, CSM Systems Shelving was supplied and for those more heavy storage requirements CSM’s Long Span Shelving was used on the campus basement level allowing for efficient storage.
