KPMG

Sydney’s biggest development project of its time saw industry leader in professional accounting services, KPMG moved over 3500 staff into new offices at International Towers in the heart of Barangaroo. Being in the business of solving complex problems meant putting people together to create and challenge thinking was critical.

Designers Davenport Campbell aimed to utilise the building’s natural materials and surroundings in the 28,000-square-metre offices project.

The professional services firm KPMG adopted an agile workspace, creating zones with “Focus” areas for thinking, with an ideas area called Spark. Works entailed the complete design and fitout of office floors to provide  Activity Based Working flexibility for KPMG over 20 plus floors. Boasting 360-degree views of Sydney via glass walls, there is a hospitality floor on level 38 with the KPMG reception, meeting and events rooms. Whilst Level 26, called the Connect floor, has informal spaces for teams to collaborate with clients, housing a coffee shop, events space, open plan meeting areas and an Innovation Lab.

KPMG wanted to give their staff freedom and choice about how they work, reflecting the firm’s guiding principles of connection, health and conscience. Engaged to provide a storage solution that reflects KPMG’s values of expertise and integrity, CSM proudly provided the 6500 Workplace Lockers for KPMG’s new offices at Barangaroo and Melbourne. The electronic activity based lockers were purpose built by CSM, utilising touch screen technology and swipe access points that are connected across all sites and are scalable to suit KPMG’s growing market. The touch screen allows for simple touch operation.

CSM Central Swipe provides an Audit trail, can be set to dedicated or non-dedicated users and lockers lock automatically when the locker is shut. The size of the locker was fine tuned to ensure the clothing rack was suitable across all states. The mail slot dimensions were redesigned to meet the requirements of the legal department. Bespoke design elements including shadow lines and custom perforations for a consistent aesthetic.

The clean, seamless pearl white CSM Infinity Hinge Door Cabinets supplied draws the eye to the windows and the spectacular view beyond. Infinity Planter Boxes were supplied as a design feature to compliment the interior habitat and improve air quality.

The project team was comprised of Davenport Campbell, EGO Group and Wilson Project Management whilst construction was delivered by Lend Lease and Brookfield Multiplex for Sydney and Melbourne respectively. Working collaboratively the projects were  completed successfully and the result is a more productive and creative workplace. The project showcased innovative design and sustainability principles that define the workplace of the future.
