The NSW Historic Houses Trust took new residences in Sydney’s historic Mint building in the heart of the CBD, coinciding with a comprehensive rebranding of the city’s heritage and museum sites under Sydney Living Museums. With additional foci given to audience engagement, collection management and artefact storage improvements, this rebranding initiative required a significant reimagining of the Historic Houses Trust’s approach to managing cultural records (including original historic land titles and large architectural plans for the twelve historic houses overseen by the Trust.)

CSM developed a custom Rolling Storage (Compactus) system for housing these cultural records, documents and artefacts – many of which require advanced safety and security in light of delicate composition and organic material. With consideration given to artifactual and user safety, collection management and maintenance convenience, CSM was able to deliver a bespoke and flexible solution to the Historic Houses Trust’s diverse records collection – tomorrow-proofing this important cultural organisation for generations still to come.
