When the Historic Houses Trust moved to their new home, The Mint on Sydney's Macquarie Street, CSM was chosen to provide them with a tailored storage solution. Architects, FJ & T selected CSM over a handful of other competitors because of CSM's outstanding work for other major cultural archival institutions such as The Art Gallery of NSW and The Australian Museum. The Trust needed a secure custom built system to store their cultural records which includes original historic land titles and large architectural plans for the twelve historic houses held in trust. CSM began working with carpenters and architects from FJ & T in April to build a system that would store the Trust's culturally significant archives for their planned move in late September. A wide selection of CSM products were used, including more than thirty Tambour Door storage cabinets. Three very large mobile shelving Units were also custom designed to fit into The Mint's repository's height and weight specifications. The Rolling Storage Units were custom fitted with viewing holes for vermin control to protect original documents. Megan Martin, Manager of the Caroline Simpson Library & Research Collection said "CSM were willing and able to modify their products to meet very particular specifications. As we evolve into the future it is likely we will be working with CSM to implement the highly customised contact storage that is currently being used in the USA and the United Kingdom." |
